DESCRIPTION:Join COMPACT\, institutions of higher education\, local employers\, and community leaders for an afternoon discussion on collaborative partnership at the post-secondary level happening in McLean County that are sparking interest in career and college pathways. \n\n\n\nParticipants will engage in conversations regarding innovative approaches industry\, community and higher education are undertaking to meet the ever changing demands of talent pipeline development in McLean County. \n\n\n\nThe Education to Employer Fall Summit will begin with a fireside chat with scheduled appearances by ISU President Dr. Larry Dietz\, IWU Interim President Dr. Georgia Nugent\, Heartland Community College President Dr. Keith Cornille\, and Lincoln College Interim VP for Academic Affairs Michelle Baldwin. Summit participants will then transition to their choice of a breakout session. \n\n\n\n\n\nBreakout Sessions\n\n\n\nConnecting Employers and College Students through Career Services\n\n\n\nDiscuss how career services offices at local institutions of higher education are impacting the talent pipeline in McLean County. Hear from a panel of representatives from ISU\, IWU\, Heartland and Lincoln College about innovative work they are doing to prepare students and how employers can engage!\n\n\n\n\n\nUpskilling the Workforce\n\n\n\nThis session will focus on opportunities and resources available to assist local employers with developing skills for employees to prepare them to handle their jobs well. Upskilling is an ongoing necessity that helps in reducing costs of supervision and on the job accidents\; as well as helps with increased productivity and meeting the needs of today's industries. Join us for an interactive look at local means to upskill your workforce.\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Economic Impact of Being a "College Town"\n\n\n\nParticipate in an open dialogue session regarding why being a "college town" helps our community and businesses thrive. Discuss the economic impact of college students in McLean county and how we as a community can assist with student retention.
